Brazilian Coal Tailings Projects: Advanced Study of Sustainable Using FIB-SEM and HR-TEM

The objective of this study is to obtain a more detailed assessment particles that contain rare-earth elements (REEs) in abandoned deposits Brazilian fine coal tailings (BFCTs), so as aid current mining industries the identification methodologies for extracting such (Santa Catarina State, Brazil). BFCT areas were sampled traditional mineralogical analysis by X-ray Diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy and nanomineralogy dual beam focused ion (FIB) coupled with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) high-resolution transmission (HR-TEM) an energy dispersive microanalysis system (EDS). results show smaller fines were, higher proportion they contained. Although concentration REEs below what would normally be considered economic grade, fact these are already ground close surface negate need (only uncovering). This makes it significantly easier extracted. In addition, owing their proximity road rail transport regions under study, opportunity exists resources (BFCTs) utilized secondary market opposed simply being discarded has been done past.
